Intentional Community

TLS is staffed by members of one of the world's most famous "intentional communities", The Farm in Summertown Tennessee.

Founded in 1971 by a group which gathered in San Francisco in the 60's, they went to the hills of Tennessee to set down in the middle of the country. They set out to grow food, build a community and use their collective energies to make a difference in the world. They built their collective on the principles of pacifism, farming, right livelihood, vegetarianism and social outreach. Thirty four years later they are still there, along with their off spring, still learning and now developing numerous educational and teaching facilities to continue their original vision, living together in peace and working to make a difference.

At the present time, interest in collective, rural and intentional living has never been more wide spread. By hosting Activist Summit/Community Conferences The Farm has discovered that visiting and experiencing Intentional Community is at or near the top of many activist's lists. One of the best antidotes to the pressures of modern day society is to gather together, collectively buying land, sharing resources and fortunes. Get Collective Grab Land.

The capitalistic system prefers to divide and conquer. The modern world is set up encouraging every person or couple to be financially isolated to maximize consumption.

The Leadership School staff has hundreds of years of community experience to draw from. Experience and mistakes are extremely valuable as beginners can avoid years of traveling down the wrong road with one conversation with an elder.

In addition to hosting the home of The Leadership School, there are courses and workshops in midwifery, natural building, organic gardening, mushroom cultivation, and comprehensive Ecovillage design and development. All these courses exist within the matrix of a community 3 decades in existence.

The Farm has close affiliation with The Fellowship for Intentional Communities, a national organization which has connections with hundreds of intentional communities throughout the country.

"We now have the option for all humanity to 'make it' sucessfully - in our lifetime, Utopia or Oblivion, our choice. Integrity of the individual is the only thing that counts."
