Permaculture is a blending of permanent agriculture and permanent culture. Developed in the 1970s, it originated as an agricultural-ecological design theory, and has developed an international following of individuals who have received training through intensive two week long 'permaculture design courses'.
One result of the study of these principles has been a new focus on using the design principles in a holistic design process for creating sustainable human habitats. The Gaia University action learning courses use Permaculture design principles in creating its Masters and Bachelors degree programs.
The Eco-Entrepreneur training program has taken a natural turn toward offering training's in business and commerce skills as the most important area to have a new generation of green conscious young adults become powerful and proficient. We are helping blend the disciplines of decentralized sustainable finance with the natural eco- principles of permaculture to develop a Financial Permaculture training and inquiry.

We are excited to announce the second annual Financial Permaculture Summit happening September 22nd -26th, 2009 in Hohenwald Tennessee.
Using the design principles of permaculture and the financial principles of returning to equity based and locally based economics, the Financial Permaculture team in Lewis County will be holding a 5 day event designing real business proposals to create green enterprises and localized, resilient economies for the Hohenwald area.
The Financial Permaculture Design Team consists of an interdisciplinary coalition of individuals from the business, non-profit and education sectors coming together to create a forum to address the economic and environmental challenges of the day. For more information on who we are click here.
A natural attraction/collaboration occurred in the southern Tennessee hill country over the last several years as The Leadership School has been at work with The Farm Community Ecovillage Training Center, Gaia University, with its South East US Training Center on The Farm and the nearby Center for Holistic Ecology.
In January of 2007, we found a powerful ally living nearby in Hickory Valley Tennessee in the presence of Catherine Austin Fitts of Solari.com a highly experienced former Wall Street investment banker and former Washington DC insider.
Catherine through her weekly conference call, The Solari Report, discusses money, markets, politics and health and safety in our rapidly changing world.
She and the design team are working with the city of Hohenwald TN to develop some new sustainable business and permaculture projects during 2009.
